Guess what we'll be talking about ALL season?

That school with the horse.

CBS Sportsline's Dennis Dodd is doing a story-a-day on USC this week.

Here's Monday's.

If I sound a little gleeful it's because I enjoy a good dynasty.  Think back to recent runs like the Cowboys in the mid-90's, those prolific Chicago Bulls teams, Nebraska football mid 90's, Yankee baseball late 90's.  Great stuff.

It's even better to be in the moment of something special and be able to take a step back and observe it happening.

What's interesting is the opposite dynamics emerging about the USC offense and defense.

On offense, every starter is returning, as well as some former starters like Winston Justice and Brandon Hancock.  But, Norm Chow made his way to the NFL.  So, talent isn't an issue, but coaching is, with the weird hydra-like gangleon running the offense of Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian and Pete Carroll.

On defense, the Trojans have lost four All Americans in Shaun Cody, Mike Patterson, Matt Grootegooed and Lofa Tatupu.  But, Pete Carroll runs the NCAA's best defense (in our eyes) and he obviously returns.  So on defense the talent (or at least, experience) is an issue, but not the coaching.

Should be interesting to see where the chips fall for the Trojans this year.  More to come this week as Dodd continues his Troy-stories.
